"They were forced to consider itself Ukrainians": as Transcarpathia found and lost autonomy — RT in Russian

On October 11, 1938 the authorities of Czechoslovakia actually recognized autonomy of the Subcarpathian Russia. However in practice to receive this status and the more so the region could not apply for independence: for only a few weeks three governments which gravitated to various allies were replaced there. As a result at the beginning of the 1939th Hungary from approval of Nazi Germany sent troops on the territory of Transcarpathia. After the country was liberated by the Red Army, a part of local population appealed to the leadership of the USSR about creation of the certain Soviet republic, but Moscow decided to attach these territories to USSR. Historians call the first half of the XX century "disappointment time for Transcarpathia", noting that there still there is an ideological soil for development of "autonomistic moods".
