90 years ago in the Colombian city of Syenaga there were events known as "banana slaughter". Thousands of employees of the American company — the exporter of United Fruit Company bananas, being based in the Latin American state, came to a peaceful strike with the requirement to improve them working conditions. However Bogota which was under the influence of the USA and being afraid of invasion of the American army threw armed forces on its dispersal. Several dozens of people became the victims of the conflict, according to the Colombian military. According to official information of Washington, more than one thousand employees of the American enterprise died. Experts call similar incidents characteristic manifestation of policy of the United States in the region.
